There is a great story in the Hebrew Scriptures of a cup bearer to a King - Nehemiah. When Nehemiah heard the news that the walls of Jerusalem had been destroyed and no effort was being made to rebuild the city he loved, he became narrowly focused on how he might go and rally the remnant living nearby to rebuild the walls. Nehemiah employed the power of concentration over the next 52 days and rebuilt the entire wall! This was a massive undertaking but he received the blessing of the King, purchased the materials necessary, surveyed the city to determine what would be required, prayed a lot and in only 52 days, completed the task that could reasonably have required a year if all went well.

Nehemiah was able to accomplish this monumental project as a result of clearly defined objectives, delegating the jobs, and concentrating every bit of energy and creativity toward the goal for which he was obviously passionate and motivated while all along not allowing any distractions to interfere with his plans.
