You or someone in your business must maintain a large reserve of the God given ingredient of perseverance which is driven by the motivation to get the job done. Perseverance, like motivation is not a commodity to be purchased in a seminar or by reading a book. Rather, it is a dirrivative of motivation inspired by passion. The easiest course of action when things get tough, with one problem on top of another, and your plans simply are not finding any fruition, is to throw in the proverbial towel. This is against all the rules for those who build top online businesses. Those who are committed to the success of the business simply do not stop. You will not find this option in the book of success stories of the top online businesses. But how can one not quit when everything is going the wrong way?
Perseverance is the only answer and this unusual quality abounds only when you are truly motivated which means you are passionate about the business, which is the result of truly believing in the very core of your being that what you are pursuing is quintessential to life itself.
Back to the Basics of Concentration
Now that we have laid the foundations for the principle of concentration, we are ready within the context of building top online businesses to employ this deeply ingrained character quality.
The principle of concentrating your efforts and energies in a narrowly focused course of action is not new. It is, however, difficult to accomplish with so many tasks and projects calling for your attention. It is also one reason that many businesses fail as the owner, in particular, is not able to get a handle on what’s important and essential to starting and operating the business. The parallel concepts of: Establishing Priorities; Setting Goals and Eliminating distractions play an important role in the concept of concentration.
To concentrate in a given area with all your energy and resources focused in one particular area does not mean doing only one thing. It does, though, mean doing only one thing at a time and when doing that which has been identified as essential, also eliminating any distractions from becoming overbearing so as to derail your focused efforts. This one idea when harnessed and used effectively is one of the most powerful secrets of success. “Movers and shakers” are people who may not realize they operate by this principle. However, in every case you will find those who are writing the books, designing the systems, making the sales, building top online businesses, are people who have learned to leverage their own resources. They have a narrowly focused intensity of what must be done now.

Success can, of course, be achieved without a heavy duty understanding and focus on the principle of concentration but the timetable will definitely be extended. Most small business people cannot afford the luxury of a broad brush approach which lacks focused use of the limited resources of time, talent, abilities and money. This is especially significant in the fast moving world of building top online businesses.
But How Do l Know What’s Most Important - What to Focus on?
You know. Knowing what to do is not the problem for most small business owners. The choices are not all that great. The options are generally limited. It is the doing of it that cries out for action. Often the hardest things, or the most difficult tasks or the most unpleasant projects are left lacking. The challenge is not in knowing what you are best at, or what must be done or what project must be given your full attention. The challenge is setting it as an absolute priority, and then doing it!
Now this may not mean that it is for you, the owner, to do, but it is for you to see to it that it gets done. It may mean as it did for President Kennedy, that you become immersed in the need far enough and long enough to understand what needs to be done, provide your total commitment to it for a time, roll up your sleeves and get along side of those who will be carrying on the project and provide your wholehearted support.
Nothing will stop you from doing what needs to be done and no distraction attempting to throw you off track will be able to achieve its goal. You're committed to becoming one of the top online businesses and you know what needs to be done. Doing it is the only thing the motivated leader knows. She will persevere through whatever challenges and will complete the task needed to bring her business to the top no matter what comes her way. This focused intensity with the right resources, people and products will allow you to build top online businesses producing great value and high returns for your efforts.
